We’re welcoming new grantee partners!

We are excited to welcome a new cohort of grantee partners to the SAAF network.

This week we are hosting the final of four inception workshops for organisations new to SAAF to finalise their plans and get to know each other. This cohort of newly funded organisations will begin their SAAF funded work in October this year and we will share more about their work in our next newsletter.

We have also renewed funding for 50 existing grantee partners in 35 countries around the world. You can find out more about these organisations on our website in EnglishFrenchSpanish.

SAAF is recruiting!

We are looking for a Senior Finance Adviser to support the SAAF team. This is open to anyone who can work from Nairobi (Kenya) or Abidjan (Côte d’Ivoire) and who speaks both French and English.

Find out more information on our website and please share this with your networks – the deadline to apply is 21 August 2022.

SAAF grantee partner spotlight: ICRH Mozambique

Centro Internacional Para Saúde Reprodutiva (ICRH-M) is a non-profit organisation with a mission to improve sexual and reproductive health in Mozambique. They have been funded by SAAF since the start of 2020 and have made some amazing achievements during this time.

With a focus on the Tete province in Central Mozambique, ICRH-M has trained abortion providers to increase the availability of high-quality services. They have also worked with community leaders to raise public awareness of safe legal abortion – although the law was liberalised in 2014 many are still unaware of their rights.

From January 2020 to March 2022, at least 1800 women and girls were able to access safe abortion care thanks to ICRH-M (compared to just 215 in 2019). The number of women and girls resorting to unsafe abortion methods reduced by a huge 75%.
